Warangal is the most important town of Telangana region, outside the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad and has considerable historical significance, being the capital city of Kakatiya empire. The remnants of the glorious period of Kakatiya empire, even today, are cherished with pride by the Andhras. Many tourists come to Warangal to visit the Kakatiya Fort, the Thousand pillars temple, the Ramappa temple and Pakhal lake & wild life sanctuary.
Warangal is located on the Delhi - Chennai railway line and has two railway stations viz., Kazipet Jn. and Warangal. It is also connected to Hyderabad by rail. Bus service links Warangal with most of the important towns of Andhra Pradesh.
Warangal has long traditions of education and cultural activities. Even today it is a major centre for education with a large variety of institutions. Kakatiya University, the only Univesity in Telangana region, is also located at Warangal. The Kakatiya Institute of Technology and Science is located in picturesque surroundings on the Warangal, Karimnagar highway at a distance of 6 km. from Hanamkonda.
Affiliation
Kakatiya Institute of Technology and Science is affiliated to the Kakatiya University, Warangal. In the year 1986, the Kakatiya University accorded permanent affiliation to the Institue. consequent to this, the University Grants Commission included this Institute in the list of colleges prepared under section 2(f) of the UGC Act 1956 and declared that the Institute is fit to receive Central assistance under section 12(b) of the UGC Act 1956. The Institute also received the approval of AICTE.
From the academic year 1992-93 the Institute adopted a revised curriculum with a broad based core component, departmental compulsory courses, streamed professional electives, open electives, colloquium and project work consistent with the Model curriculum evolved by the AICTE. The new curriculum also takes into due consideration the requirements of GATE, Engineering Services examinations of UPSC and other recruitment tests. A semester system (except in the 1st year) with a significant tutorial component is being adopted for all the programmes conducted at the Institute.
English is the medium of instruction for the following programs: 4 year degree program leading to the B.Tech in the following specializations: Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, and Civil Engineering
